The floral family includes very different materials. Some recreate a recognisable note, while others work mainly on brightness, diffusion, volume or texture. Molecules such as HEDIONE® can make a structure lighter and more radiant, while ionones, muguet materials and floral bases help build more defined characters.

How to choose a floral perfumery material

A useful starting point is the desired effect: transparent or creamy, green or powdery, fresh or narcotic. Two materials both described as “jasmine” or “iris” can behave very differently in intensity, persistence and function within a formula.
