Collection: Balsams & Resins

Balsams, resinoids and resinous materials for building amber, incense, balsamic, vanilla, spicy and woody bases.

Benzoin, labdanum, olibanum, myrrh, Tolu balsam and fir have very different profiles: from the vanilla-amber warmth of benzoin to the mineral incense character of olibanum, the leathery facets of labdanum and the spicy nuances of myrrh.

How to use balsams and resins in perfumery

These materials can increase depth, continuity and substantivity in a base, but they are not interchangeable. Some resinoids are highly viscous or are supplied already in solution, so it is important to check the concentration and solvent specified by the manufacturer.

They can be combined with woods, vanilla, spices, flowers and amber materials to build complex accords. Product pages include physical state, concentration and available technical data.
