OLIBANUM RESINOID EXTRA 50% DPG IFF

OLIBANUM RESINOID EXTRA is a frankincense resinoid with a dry, balsamic and slightly citrusy character. The commercial product is supplied by IFF at 50% in DPG; this indication describes the material as supplied by the manufacturer.

Olfactory profile

Resinous, incense-like, balsamic and slightly citrusy, with nuances of peel, soft smoke, dry wood and spices.

In formula

It is particularly useful in incense, amber, chypre, leather, woody, spicy and mineral-resinous compositions. It can add verticality to the base, dry out structures that feel too sweet and create a bridge between citrus, spices and resins.

With MYRRH it becomes darker and more balsamic; with BENZOIN it gains greater sweetness; with LABDANUM it develops a more amber direction; with cedar and vetiver it becomes drier and more austere.

How to work with it

The presence of DPG is part of the commercial form of the product and should be taken into account when comparing dosage with undiluted resinoids. In formula it is useful to evaluate it in the drydown, where the resinous and woody components become more evident.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a dry, elegant and easy-to-dose incense material is needed, with a brighter citrus nuance than myrrh, benzoin or labdanum.
