TOLU RESINOID TYPE NAT 220951 FIRMENICH

TOLU RESINOID TYPE NAT is a balsamic material with a warm, sweet and enveloping character, built in the style of Tolu balsam. Compared with benzoin it feels more amber-like and spicy; compared with myrrh it is softer and sweeter.

Olfactory profile

Balsamic, vanilla-like, amber and slightly spicy, with nuances of caramel, honey, sweet resin and warm wood.

In formula

It is particularly useful in amber, vanilla, tobacco, leather, gourmand, chypre and oriental bases. It can add body and roundness, increase persistence and create a bridge between vanilla, resins, spices and woods.

With BENZOIN it becomes creamier and more vanilla-like; with MYRRH it develops greater depth; with LABDANUM it builds a more classical amber base; with COUMARIN and tonka it moves toward a powdery-gourmand direction.

How to work with it

It is a resinous material and can be viscous; gentle controlled warming can make dispensing easier. It is best evaluated in the drydown, where its ability to round and unify the base becomes more evident.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a warm, sweet and balsamic resinous material is needed, with more amber character than benzoin and less austerity than myrrh.
