LABDANUM RESINOID 121142 (SPAIN) IFF
LABDANUM RESINOID is a natural Cistus ladanifer resinoid with an amber, balsamic and leathery character. It is one of the classic materials for building amber structures and chypre bases, thanks to its combination of warmth, resin, leather and wood.
Olfactory profile
Amber, resinous, balsamic and leathery, with nuances of dark wood, soft smoke, earth and a light animalic component.
In formula
It is particularly useful in amber, chypre, leather, tobacco, oud, woody and oriental compositions. It can add depth, persistence and a warm structure to the base, while linking resins, patchouli, vanilla and woods.
With BENZOIN it builds a softer, more vanilla-like amber; with MYRRH it becomes darker and more austere; with OLIBANUM it gains a drier incense facet; with patchouli and leather it reinforces the earthy and animalic side.
How to work with it
It is a dense resinoid and can be viscous. Gentle controlled warming can make dispensing and weighing easier. It is best evaluated in the drydown, where the amber and leathery components become clearer.
When to choose it
It is particularly suitable when a natural, dark and resinous amber structure is needed that is more leathery and animalic than benzoin or tolu.
