FIR BALSAM OLIFFAC 0912 IFF

FIR BALSAM OLIFFAC 0912 is an IFF specialty built around a warm, resinous balsamic-woody effect. It is not fir essential oil, but a compound blend designed to provide a more consistent, rounded and easily adjustable signature in formula.

Olfactory profile

Balsamic, resinous, woody and slightly spicy, with nuances of fir, dark honey, tobacco, soft leather, dry vanilla and warm wood.

In formula

It is particularly useful in woody, tobacco, amber, leather, fougère, oriental and balsamic accords. It can increase body and cohesion in the base, soften overly dry woods and introduce a resinous component without requiring a complex construction of natural materials and balsams.

With BENZOIN it becomes softer and sweeter; with LABDANUM it gains a more amber and leathery nuance; with cedar and vetiver it becomes drier; with vanilla and tonka it develops a more gourmand-balsamic direction.

BLEND or natural fir?

The blend offers greater consistency and an already balanced structure. Natural fir essential oil is more terpenic, green and variable, with a more immediate freshness of needles and conifer. The two can also be used together.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a warm, persistent balsamic-woody base is needed that is rounder and less terpenic than a conifer essential oil.
