Fougère is an olfactory structure, not the smell of a single raw material. The classic model combines an aromatic lavender facet with the dry sweetness of coumarin and a mossy base; modern interpretations can be greener, fresher, woodier or cleaner.

How to build a fougère accord

LAVANDIN, COUMARIN and materials such as VERAMOSS provide useful reference points for understanding its architecture. Petitgrain, salicylates, green notes, camphoraceous materials and fougère bases can then modify freshness, volume and character.
