VERAMOSS IFF

VERAMOSS is a chypre-mossy raw material with a dry, earthy and woody character, used to evoke the structure of oakmoss without reproducing its full natural complexity. It is particularly useful as a base material and as a bridge between patchouli, woods, resins and musks.

Olfactory profile

Mossy, woody, earthy and slightly marine, with nuances of forest floor, patchouli, bark and dry moss. The character is cleaner and more linear than natural oakmoss.

In formula

It is particularly useful in chypre, fougère, patchouli, vetiver, leather, woods and dry amber compositions. It can increase depth and persistence in the base, add a mossy signature and create an elegant contrast with citrus and luminous florals.

With patchouli it develops more shadow and forest-floor character; with VERTOFIX® COEUR it becomes woodier and drier; with bergamot and labdanum it quickly builds a chypre direction; with light musks it can make the base feel more modern and clean.

VERAMOSS or oakmoss?

VERAMOSS is not a complete substitute for natural oakmoss. It is more linear, dry and controllable, while the natural material has broader earthy, marine, phenolic and vegetal complexity. They can also be used together when the goal is to retain a classical signature with greater formulation control.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a dry and stable mossy-chypre base is needed to structure woods, patchouli, vetiver and fougère accords without making the formula excessively heavy.
