IRIS BASE

IRIS BASE is a multi-component fragrance base designed to quickly build a soft, powdery and woody iris/orris accord. In perfumery, the term iris refers less to the scent of the flower itself than to the olfactory character associated with the rhizome: violet, powder, root, soft woods and an elegant, slightly cosmetic depth.

Olfactory profile

Powdery, violet, orris/root, woody and soft. It has a dry yet velvety texture, with a refined powdery effect and nuances reminiscent of iris rhizome, pale woods and classic cosmetics.

In formula

It is particularly useful in iris, violet, powdery, musky, woody and elegant floral accords. It can be used as the center of an iris accord or at lower levels to introduce a powdery texture, soften dry woody structures and create continuity between an ionone-floral heart and a musky or amber base.

With IONONE ALPHA and IONONE BETA it emphasizes the violet facet; with METHYL IONONE GAMMA it increases powdery volume and softness; with white musks it becomes more enveloping and skin-like; with sandalwood and other woody materials it creates a drier, more elegant and contemporary iris.

Base, iris accord or natural raw materials?

IRIS BASE offers an already balanced structure that is ready to use. An accord built from scratch with ionones and methyl ionones gives more precise control over the violet, powdery or woody direction. Natural extracts obtained from iris rhizome belong to a different category of raw materials, with very different profiles, concentrations and costs. The base can therefore be used both as a practical solution and as a framework to personalize.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when you want to quickly introduce an elegant, soft and powdery iris/orris signature, or add depth and texture to violet, musky, woody and floral compositions.
