SAFFRON BASE

SAFFRON BASE is a compound spicy base designed to introduce a dry, warm and slightly leathery saffron effect quickly. Its value lies in the contrast between spice, wood, mineral dryness and an almost medicinal nuance, which can give strong character even in relatively small amounts.

Olfactory profile

Spicy, dry, warm and slightly leathery, with woody, bitter and mineral nuances. The character is more austere and structural than cinnamon or cardamom.

In formula

It is particularly useful in leather, oud, amber, chypre, woods, dark rose and oriental compositions. It can increase tension and verticality, dry out accords that feel too sweet and create a highly effective bridge between spices, woods and leather materials.

With CUIR DE RUSSIE or ISO BUTYL QUINOLINE it becomes more leathery and darker; with rose and damascones it gains a floral-spicy dimension; with oud and dry woods it increases character; with ambers and balsams it can create a richer, more modern contrast.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a dry, refined and slightly leathery spice is needed to give personality to leather, oud, rose, amber and chypre structures.
