VETIVER BASE

VETIVER BASE is a woody-earthy base built around a dry, green and slightly smoky vetiver effect. It is useful when a stable and easily adjustable vetiver signature is needed, with less variability than a natural essential oil.

Olfactory profile

Woody, earthy, green and dry, with nuances of root, soft smoke, dry citrus and a light bitter component.

In formula

It is particularly useful in woods, chypre, fougère, citrus, leather, tobacco and aromatic compositions. It can give verticality to the base, dry out structures that feel too sweet and create a natural bridge between citrus and woods.

With bergamot or lemon it gains greater brightness; with cedar it becomes drier; with patchouli it develops more depth; with clean musks it can create a very modern woody-musky structure.

BASE or natural vetiver?

The base offers greater consistency and control, with an already built signature. A natural vetiver essential oil is more complex and variable, with nuances that depend strongly on origin and distillation. The two approaches can also be combined.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a dry, readable and reproducible vetiver note is needed, or when the structure of natural vetiver should be reinforced without increasing its earthy facets too much.
