RUM BASE

RUM BASE is a compound liqueur-style base designed to introduce a warm, sweet and slightly caramelized rum effect quickly. Compared with COGNAC BASE it is softer, more gourmand and more rounded, with a more evident sugary component and less emphasis on barrel wood.

Olfactory profile

Liqueur-like, warm, sweet and creamy, with nuances of dark rum, caramel, vanilla and ripe fruit. The character is soft and enveloping, with a festive sensation that need not become overtly sugary when well balanced.

In formula

It is particularly useful in gourmand, tobacco, cocoa, vanilla, dark fruit, oud and amber accords. It can add depth to a sweet base, enrich a fruity accord and create contrast with spices or woods.

With COCOA BASE and vanilla it becomes more gourmand; with tobacco and oud it takes on a darker direction; with citrus and spices it retains more energy; with red fruits or peach it can build a juicier, more contemporary liqueur effect.

RUM or COGNAC BASE?

RUM BASE is sweeter, creamier and more caramelized; COGNAC BASE is more vinous, woody and dry. The former works better in gourmands and warm bases, while the latter is better when a more sophisticated and structured alcoholic-woody note is needed.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a warm, rounded liqueur note is desired to give body to gourmand, tobacco, cocoa and amber bases.
