ISOBUTYL SALICYLATE
ISOBUTYL SALICYLATE is a salicylate raw material with a floral, balsamic and slightly green character. It is especially useful as a bridging material: it gives body to flowers, rounds transitions and adds softness without imposing itself as a dominant note.
Olfactory profile
Floral, balsamic, sweet and slightly green, with nuances of orchid, ylang-ylang, clover, delicate wintergreen and a light creamy-woody facet.
In formula
It is particularly useful in white flowers, ylang-ylang, orchid, tobacco, soft chypres, floral ambers and powdery accords. It can increase volume and persistence, make the transition between heart and base more fluid and support floral notes without heaviness.
With BENZYL SALICYLATE it gains depth and creaminess; with AMYL SALICYLATE it becomes greener and more diffusive; with ylang-ylang and jasmine it creates a fuller heart; with soft woods it can reinforce the balsamic sensation.
ISOBUTYL, AMYL or BENZYL SALICYLATE?
AMYL SALICYLATE is greener and airier; BENZYL SALICYLATE is denser, softer and more structural; ISOBUTYL SALICYLATE sits between them, with a more balsamic and discreet signature. The choice therefore depends on the type of volume and texture desired.
When to choose it
It is particularly suitable when a soft, versatile salicylate is needed to connect flowers, woods and the base without creating an overly evident signature.
