COGNAC BASE

COGNAC BASE is a compound alcoholic-woody base designed to quickly introduce a rich, vinous, barrel-aged cognac effect. It does not work only on the liqueur note: it combines fermented fruit, oak, vanilla and a slight astringency that gives depth to the base.

Olfactory profile

Vinous, fruity, woody and warm, with nuances of grape, green apple, oak, vanilla, dark caramel and a light note of lees and toasted wood. The character is drier and more structured than a simple rum or gourmand accord.

In formula

It is particularly useful in tobacco, leather, amber, dark gourmands, woods and night-blooming florals. It can add depth to the base, make a sweet accord feel more adult and create an interesting transition between fruit, wood and balsams.

With tobacco and leather it becomes drier and darker; with vanilla and benzoin it gains roundness; with woods and oak-like materials it emphasizes the barrel effect; with dark fruits it can build a richer, less linear liqueur accord.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when a sophisticated, warm and woody liqueur note is desired, more complex than a simple sweet alcoholic effect.
