CHYPRE BASE
CHYPRE BASE is a compound base designed to quickly provide the fundamental structure of a classic chypre accord: citrus opening, floral-spicy heart and a musky, resinous and slightly animalic base. It is useful when a true backbone is needed to build on without recreating the entire balance from scratch each time.
Olfactory profile
Citrusy, floral, spicy, musky and balsamic, with nuances of lemon, ylang-ylang, geranium, clove, styrax, woods and a soft amber-vanilla sweetness. The character is classic and structured, with a slight animalic tension.
In formula
It is particularly useful in chypre, leather, dark florals and heritage-style compositions. It can be used as an already balanced backbone or as a blending material to give depth and continuity to a formula.
With bergamot and other citrus materials it gains more light; with patchouli and VERAMOSS it moves toward a drier, mossier chypre; with labdanum and benzoin it becomes more amber; with ISO BUTYL QUINOLINE or SUEDERAL it gains a more leathery dimension.
Base or accord built from scratch?
CHYPRE BASE is useful when you want to work quickly on an already coherent structure. Building a chypre from individual raw materials offers more control over the balance between citrus, florals, moss, patchouli and resins; the base instead allows immediate focus on the creative direction.
When to choose it
It is particularly suitable when a classic, deep and slightly animalic chypre structure is needed as a starting point for greener, leathery, floral or amber directions.
