CLOVE BASE

CLOVE BASE is a compound spicy base designed to quickly introduce the warm, dry and incisive character of clove. Compared with CINNAMON BASE it is less sweet and more phenolic; compared with CARDAMOM BASE it is darker and more structural.

Olfactory profile

Spicy, warm, woody and slightly phenolic, with a dry, almost leathery nuance. The character is intense and recognizable, capable of clearly modifying the heart of a composition.

In formula

It is particularly useful in oriental, chypre, leather, tobacco, spicy woods, dark florals and gourmand accords. It can increase depth and contrast, make a sweet base drier and introduce spicy tension into rose, ylang and white flowers.

With CINNAMON BASE it builds a fuller spice accord; with ISOEUGENOL or EUGENOL the effect can become more natural and complex; with tobacco and woods it gains dryness; with vanilla and cocoa it creates a more adult, less sugary gourmand contrast.

CARDAMOM, CINNAMON or CLOVE?

CLOVE BASE is the driest, most phenolic and penetrating; CINNAMON BASE is warmer and sweeter; CARDAMOM BASE is greener, fresher and more aromatic. The choice depends on the type of tension you want to introduce into the formula.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable when an incisive, structural spice effect is needed to give character to oriental, tobacco, leather, chypre and dark gourmand compositions.
