CAS 13171-00-1. Mossy, powdery, fruity, slightly animalic, bright, clean.
A particularly bright and fruity musk, diffused and light with a clean sensation, it's particularly effective in floral blends. It's a luminous musk that can add brightness and also secure the blend.
The crystals can be difficult to dissolve in ethanol, but benzylsalicylate or benzyl benzoate will help them dissolve. In practice, we've found that if you measure the crystals first and then add the rest of the formula, stirring or shaking occasionally, in most cases the celestolide will dissolve into the concentrate upon completion and will not cause problems when alcohol is added to the final mixture.
Almost white crystals. Soluble in alcohol, it mixes with essential oils and perfumery chemicals.
A soft, sweetly musky scent with a slight animalic nuance and good longevity. Relatively stable in perfume creation under normal conditions.
During storage it may acquire a slight acidic aftertaste, which is appreciated by some perfumers and disliked by others.
It is known that it is not used in food flavorings.
The typical concentration in perfumery ranges from 0.5% to 3%, but for some types of perfumes a significantly higher glycolide content may be useful.
Celestolid is a bright, widespread moss that can be used in very large doses (although it is also effective in small amounts).
Does not discolor soap and other slightly alkaline products.
400 hour endurance.
