CASHMERAN® IFF

CASHMERAN® is difficult to reduce to a single olfactory family. Its character combines wood, amber, spices and a musky-animalic nuance with a distinctive powdery, velvety texture. This complexity is exactly what makes it so useful in contemporary perfumery.

Olfactory profile

Woody, amber, spicy, musky, warm and diffusive, with nuances of apple, red fruits, earth and pine. IFF also highlights its strong floral-boosting effect and its distinctive powdery-velvet nuance.

In formula

CASHMERAN® can become a true bridge between different olfactory areas. With woods it brings warmth and a softer texture; in amber accords it adds depth; in spicy florals it increases body and diffusion; next to animalic notes, leather and oud it helps connect the dark woody side with the more sensual musky side.

It is particularly interesting because it does not behave like a simple woody amber. Its spicy, earthy and fruity component can emerge differently depending on context, making a formula more three-dimensional and less linear.

IFF notes a particular affinity with TIMBERSILK™, citronellol, isoeugenol and Delta Damascone. In modern formulas it also works very well next to musks, transparent woods and more powerful amber materials.

How to work with it

CASHMERAN® may appear solid or partially crystallized: its melting point is around 27 °C. If necessary, the tightly closed bottle can be warmed gently in a water bath until the material returns to a liquid state, avoiding direct heat sources.

For olfactory study it can also be useful to evaluate it in dilution, because at lower concentration the floral, spicy and musky nuances become easier to read than in the neat material.

CASHMERAN® or a classic woody amber?

ISO E SUPER® and TIMBERSILK™ work mainly on volume, transparency and woody structure. CASHMERAN® adds a more complex personality: spicy warmth, animalic, powdery and fruity nuances. It is therefore particularly useful when the base should not only become broader, but gain character.

When to choose it

It is a good choice for woody, amber, spicy, floral, leather and oud accords when a material combining structure and sensuality is needed, or when a composition requires more depth without relying on an exclusively dry and powerful woody amber.
