ANISIC ALDEHYDE
ANISIC ALDEHYDE is a sweet, floral and powdery raw material with an almond-anise character, capable of rounding sharper aldehydes and giving an almost gourmand softness to many floral structures.
Olfactory profile
Sweet, powdery, floral, anise-like and slightly vanilla-like, with nuances of almond, mimosa, hawthorn, cream and soft spices. The character is warm and rounded, softer than bright.
In formula
It is particularly useful in mimosa, hawthorn, lilac, tuberose, powdery, gourmand, fruity and oriental accords. It can soften an aldehydic structure, add volume to a floral heart and link flowers, vanilla, almond and fruit effectively.
With C10–C12 aldehydes it smooths the sharper, waxier side; with ionones it increases the powdery effect; with vanilla and benzaldehyde it builds a more almond-like sweetness; with mimosa and yellow florals it creates a creamier texture.
How to work with it
It is a highly characterful material and is best evaluated in dilution. In small amounts it can simply round the formula; as the dosage increases, almond, anise, mimosa and vanilla emerge more clearly.
When to choose it
It is particularly suitable when a floral-powdery softness with almond and vanilla nuances is needed to round aldehydic, floral or gourmand compositions.
