Chemical name: 2h-Indeno[4,5-B] Furan, Decahydro-2,2,6,6,7,8,8-Heptamethyl

Olfactory class: woody amber, dry and musky.

Olfactory profile

A very intense, diffusing, and tenacious amber-woody molecule. Key notes: dry, woody, musky amber with earthy nuances and a hint of camphorated notes; woodier and more impactful than Cashmeran® . Excellent for adding volume and lift to the base.

Performance & use in formula

  • Power/Impact: Very high; great spread in the head and persistence in the slipstream.
  • Substantivity on supports: > 1 week (textiles/leather).
  • Typical usage level: trace amounts up to 0.5% of the concentrate (often 0.05–0.2% is sufficient for a booster effect).
  • Role: Amber-woody booster, modern fixative for woody, fougère, amber, leather, and tobacco accords; also useful in floral and fruity fragrances to add body and depth.

Synergies & formulation advice

  • Recommended combinations: Cashmeran , Timbersilk , Ambrettolide , Ambermor , dry woods ( cedar , vetiver , Iso E Super® ), ambers ( Ambrox® , Cetalox®), modern musks, dry spices, tobacco and leather.
  • To “push” the woody accord: combine in small doses with Trimofix , Ambrox Super .
  • To round out the effect: add macro-cyclic musks or lactic/creamy notes.
