AMBER XTREME™ IFF

AMBER XTREME™ is one of the most recognizable ultra-high-impact woody ambers in contemporary perfumery. IFF presents it as a material capable of dramatically increasing fragrance performance: even very small amounts can alter the depth, projection and persistence of the structure.

Olfactory profile

Amber, woody, dry, powerful and very persistent. Its character is modern, incisive and vertical, with musky, earthy and slightly camphoraceous nuances. It does not provide the velvety softness of ISO E SUPER® or the rounded character of TIMBERSILK™: its role is more energetic and structural.

In formula

AMBER XTREME™ can work as a booster for the woody-amber zone and as an element capable of increasing the presence of the entire composition. In woody and amber bases it adds tension and depth; with leather, tobacco, vetiver and dry accords it emphasizes the darker, more structured side; in traces it can also give greater definition to florals and fruits without necessarily turning them into woody fragrances.

Because of its strength, it clearly demonstrates the difference between presence and quantity. A minimal dose can be more effective than a large amount: if pushed too far, its signature can quickly dominate the formula and compress the other raw materials.

How to work with it

For initial trials it is often more practical to evaluate it in dilution, especially in small formulas or delicate accords. This makes it easier to identify the point at which it moves from structural support to a true woody-amber signature.

With ISO E SUPER® and TIMBERSILK™ it can build bases of progressively increasing intensity: the first two work more on volume, softness and texture, while AMBER XTREME™ introduces a much more incisive push. With CASHMERAN® and modern musks it can create denser, warmer and more three-dimensional structures.

When to choose it

It is particularly useful when a composition needs more projection, depth and presence in the base, when a woody-amber accord feels too soft or indistinct, or when a strong structural effect is desired using a minimal amount of raw material.
