ALDEHYDE C10 (DECYL ALDEHYDE)

ALDEHYDE C10 is a classic aliphatic aldehyde, powerful and very useful for adding citrus brightness and a waxy-floral effect to the top of a composition. In the neat material the character is pungent and fatty; in dilution, mandarin peel, petals and a soft waxy creaminess emerge more clearly.

Olfactory profile

Aldehydic, citrusy, waxy and floral, with impressions of mandarin peel, white petals and a fatty-creamy nuance. At strong dilution the effect becomes fresher and more natural.

In formula

ALDEHYDE C10 is particularly effective in rose, jasmine, iris, neroli, violet, gardenia and aldehydic bouquets. It can increase the strength and diffusion of citrus notes, brighten white flowers and create a more abstract, sophisticated top without adding sweetness.

In gardenia and other creamy floral accords it can introduce the waxy, luminous component that makes the flower feel more three-dimensional. In an aldehydic base it works well with C8, C9, C11 and C12, each contributing a different facet of freshness, waxiness and diffusion.

How to evaluate it

It is preferable to study it in dilution because the neat material can feel much more aggressive and less representative of its real effect in a formula.

When to choose it

It is particularly suitable for citrus, rose, jasmine, iris, neroli, gardenia and aldehydic bouquets when a bright, waxy, diffusive top with a clear citrus-floral character is needed.
